Believing

God is good. All the time.

I am completely blown away by this, and I’m still thinking of it hours after I watched it for the first time.  It will take me some time to process it, and I’m sure I will write about it later.  For now, enjoy! The Story of Ian & Larissa from Desiring God on Vimeo.

Blessings in Disguise

To all who mourn in Israel, He will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. Isaiah 61:1 Once again, this – my life’s verse, has proven true. God has a wonderful way of turning things around. Now that I find myself on the other […]

Death is Nothing at All

Beloved friends, thank you so much for your prayers today. I have felt the peace that only God can bestow. My Pippa died peacefully at home today at 11:30am. When I got here at 1:00, he was still warm and looked just like he was sleeping. I had the honor of sitting with him for […]

2012 Started Out With a… Fizzle?

Hellooooo strangers! I feel like I need to re-introduce myself, it’s been so long since I’ve written… So much happened during the “silent” weeks that I can only talk about them after the fact.  And I am SO thankful I can tell you about them in the past tense. Anyone who knows me, knows I […]

Writing, Interrupted

{I interrupt this blog to share a quick, random thought.} There are some posts I want to write. There are other posts I feel like God is telling me to write. The difference between the two is very apparent to me. When God wants me to write something, the seed of the subject that He […]

Not of This World

Not of This World I love the reminders that God so graciously gives when troubles come my way that this world is not my home.  I love the concept behind the Not of This World company because I fully believe that each person is born with a “God-shaped hole”, the kind that Blaise Pascal spoke […]

Born This Way

For quite some time now, I’ve been hearing about the controversy surrounding the new Lady Gaga songs, Born This Way and Judas.  I ignored it at first, because when is there *not* controversy surrounding that girl??? I have three of her songs on my iPod – they are on my “Get Moving!” playlist, but I […]

Bear With Me…

Folks, I got a lot on my mind right now.  I’m brimming over with thoughts and I’m having a hard time turning them into words.  Coherent words, anyhow… Can I just list my emotions right now, since I don’t trust myself to form a complete sentence?  Happy.  Excited.  Expectant (not as in preggers – NOWAYJOSE!). […]

Enough

“You are enough. Sustain me.” This has been my mantra through many rough times in life. I repeat it to myself to block ugly, nasty, vile thoughts from flying out of my mouth during an argument. I say it out loud through tears as I cry out to God during times of sadness. I whisper […]

It’s a Wonderful Life

Today’s my birthday.  I love my birthday.  Wherever I go, I make sure everyone around me knows that it’s my birthday.  I slip it in to conversations when I’m out.  I milk it for all it’s worth at home.  I am completely shameless this day each year.  (Forgive me, friends and family – I know […]

Mission Statement

If I have eyes, let me see, not just view, the world around me. If I have ears, let me listen rather than simply hear. If I have a voice, let me speak with purpose. If I have a life, let me live it to the fullest of my God-given potential. Then, and only then, […]

Handle With Care

Life’s a bitch. Life’s a beach. Life’s a bowl of cherries. He who dies with the most toys wins. He who dies with the most toys still dies. I’ve heard many trite references to this thing called Life, but if I were to put my thoughts about it into one concise sentence, I would say, […]

Wonder Twin Powers…Activate!

Lately, for some reason, the movie The Incredibles has been on my mind. Especially the part where the villain, Syndrome, says, “…when everyone’s super, no one will be.” Click HERE for a refresher. The gist of the movie is that some people are born with SuperPowers and are not only celebrated, but are beneficial to society. After […]
