Q: How do you eat an elephant?
A: One bite at a time.
Q: How do you blog an entire trip to the most photogenic place on earth?
A: One day at a time.
So… the first picture from Day one was taken after 8 hours in an airplane, an hour at the airport, an hour in the car, and while we were waiting on our luggage to be brought up to the room. We just sat in awe of the view from our balcony for awhile.
When we finally got our bags, and I got my camera, we went for dinner and a drive into the hills above Honolulu. First stop: to let the kids run off some energy at a city park. This was the only picture I could get them to stand still for, and then just barely.
While we were up there, we saw our first rainbow of the trip.
(Doesn’t it look like it’s actually hitting the palm tree?!)
After the drive up above Diamond Head, we went back to our hotel and hit the beach.
The kids played for a long while…
They were in heaven!
The light cast a delicious golden glow on their skin… Yummy!
And then… there was the sunset to blow away all other sunsets. I thought that Hawaiian sunsets like the ones I’ve seen in pictures happened only rarely, but I learned that every sunset is a spectacular display.
Just when I thought it couldn’t get any more beautiful, the light changed and created something completely new.
Every sky looked as if it were a painting or a watercolor. Magnificent. Speechless.
