Just Breathe

If the sight of the blue skies fills you with joy, if a blade of grass springing up in the fields has power to move you, if the simple things of nature have a message that you understand, rejoice, for your soul is alive. ~Eleonora Duse

This past weekend, we left our fast-paced life behind and headed to the country to celebrate Mothers Day with my husband’s family. It was just the refreshment that my worn-out soul needed.

I discovered and rediscovered some things last weekend that I’d like to put here as a reminder of what a great time I had being with family, some of whom I am blessed enough to call friends, and being surrounded by natural beauty.

I breathe better when I am not surrounded by concrete. I breathe more deeply when I am surrounded by green.

I can sit for hours and watch the comings and goings of birds and not get bored.
I can find visual interest in unlikely places.
I can look at nature in childlike wonder.
There is beauty in simplicity.

Things that are no longer useful can still be displayed proudly and lovingly.

Modesty is magnificent.

To everything there is a season.

Always be prepared.

Annnnddddd…. A couple of new things I learned:

There is such a thing as a black cow with red hair.

Crawfish can and will give you the stink-eye.

*Crawfish picture taken by cousin Alicia 🙂 She and I had a good time shooting!
It was a super-duper weekend that held more fun than one blog post could ever do justice. That is all.

What do you think? I'd love to hear from you!
